I am back from Taiwan and the first incense offering ceremony at the Yun Lin Temple Taipei. The weather in Taipei was incredible, cool and sunny with an earthquake in the mix to spice things up. I left on Thanksgiving day, arrived on Friday and the ceremony was on Saturday.
It was a great honor and privilege to be able to attend. HH Grandmaster Lin Yun Rinpoche’s words of wisdom at the ceremony were inspiring. So what is the significance of the first incense offering? “In traditional temples, the Buddhas have been offered incense many times. Before the offering, they are really only works of art, devoid of spiritual essence. Many Ling particles are here and through the smoke of the incense, good energies and spirit will surround you and the Buddhas. This brings the Buddhas to a spiritual state.” Upon our offering of praise about the new temple, he reminded us, “always remember to give credit and thanks to those that have helped you get to where you are, any success that you receive is not just due to your own effort.” Khadro Crystal Chu Ripoche did a phenomenal job arranging, organizing and decorating the new temple. It was a completely different space from when Katherine Metz and I viewed it last February. You can see more photos on www.flickr.com and www.facebook.com
Wordpress.com, an internationally known blog site has just placed Lighthouse Feng Shui Chinese Horoscope as their featured zodiac blog. I don't know for how long, but WOW! If you haven't checked your daily horoscope yet, please do- it's free! Let me know what you think. It is uncanny how accurate it has been for myself (insert Twilight Zone music here).
The predictions for 2009 and the new cures for the Year of the Ox are now on this site. The enhancement charm photos were taken in Kyoto, Japan by Thom Lukas. You can also enjoy his photography in the Kuan Yin Temple Oracle book - really beautiful work.
The Year of the Ox postcards are done! I send these out once a year. They are really cute I will be mailing them out mid-Jan so be sure I have your current address so you receive one.
I also brought back several new charms from Taipei - make sure you check them out!
